National Book Festival Fun

Over the weekend Nya and I attended the National Book Festival on the National Mall.  It was Mommy-Daughter Day!  Nya did a great job listening and riding the Metro with Mommy.  The festival had so much to offer.  Under one tent, Target had set up a reading area for kids and families.  We found a rocking chair and a beanbag and read some new books.  We particularly loved the new Anna Dewdney book, Llama Llama Home With Mama.

There were several friends at the festival for Nya to meet.  She was thrilled to meet her favorite character, The Cat in the Hat!!!

A hug moment with Cat...

Nice to meet you, Cat!

Hugs from Arthur, too!

Under another tent we had the chance to see some of our favorite performers....like Choo Choo Soul and Hip Hop Harry!  When I say hip hop, you say Harry!

Taking a break...
Of course no adventure is complete without battle scars...Nya was chasing a squirrel and fell out on the mall, but she was a trooper!

We also visited the "Worldwide Day of Play" presented by Nickelodeon, but it was such a madhouse there was no way that I could get pictures.

Riding home on the Metro, Nya and I agreed that it was one of the best days ever!!!

Time Flies in September!!!

Nya is really loving school!  So far, things have been working out very well!  We are pleased.  Sometimes, she doesn't want to get up in the mornings, but she is always excited once we arrive at school.
Nya continues to be such a big girl.  Each morning she has to make sure that she gives me a kiss goodbye and then she's off with her friends.  When it's time to go home, she is always excited to see us and packs up nicely.  So far coming to school and leaving school has been drama free, thank goodness!

Nya's 1st Day of Preschool!!!

Nya started pre-school on Monday, August 29, 2011!  Our little girl is 3 and growing up so fast!

All summer she kept complaining that she didn't want to wear those "boring" clothes and "boring" shoes!  She wanted to wear her "princess" outfits.  Oh my...we have a little diva on our hands.
 The drama...

Once we arrived at school, Nya felt much better and started striking poses!

Nya is attending Mount Jezreel Baptist Church Christian School in Silver Spring, MD.  She has had a great first week and is making lots of new friends!  We were surprised that one of her old friends is attending the school as well!  This evening we attended Back to School Night and we are excited about the upcoming school year!
